The MT- VIKI four port switch looked good, buttons to switch between connections directly, a remote to eliminate clutter on my desk, a USB connection for a printer or whatever and the price was right. I bought a new computer with HDMI and my older laptop and second monitor also have HDMI, so time for a change. The HDMI to VGA conversion wasn't perfect either, there was a faint shimmer in the secondary monitor.

The switch was the progressive type requiring going through the connections one at a time in sequence with the base mounted out of sight knowing which connection I was on was a bit of a pain. My old VGA - USB KVM switch had four very bulky wires and the USB was a bid dodgy requiring the Bill Gates solution (pull the plug and restart) once in a while.
MT VIKI KVM SWITCH WINDOWS 10 INSTALL
I am planning to install a Raspberry Pi to play around with. My set up is two laptops with a common keyboard, mouse and large secondary monitor to accommodate my elderly eyes. If you have a laptop where they are on opposite sides, you’ll either have to get an extension for the usb or splice on in if you’re Savy. All in all, I highly recommend if your usb and hdmi are close. Mine normal shut power off to the screen when disconnected so it’s really just a computer thing rather than a kvm issue. There was a momentary lag when switching over but what helps is clicking the mouse once or twice or clicking on the keyboard which wakes the monitor output on the computer. With this kvm, it was simple, pick and use. Higher priced boxes have one button and you have to cycle through each computer until you get the one you want.

Also, this kvm allowed for specific selection of whatever computer I wanted to use. what I also liked was that there is a break out box so that you could throw everything under a desk and control it from the break out box. I had to go with a competitors kvm because the usb cables were longer BUT separate. I did like how the usb and hdmi were bunched into one line making routing very clean. I didn’t feel like splicing in a longer cable or getting an extension as that defeats the purpose. Works like a charm only problem I had was that the usb pigtail was too short, I have the hdmi on one side of the laptop and the usb is on the other side.
